Personal

I am a Georgian citizen (and very proud of it). Georgia is a small country located at the coast of the Black Sea, bordering Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia. Georgia is an old, culturally diverse country. By the way, we have our own script, which is not used anywhere outside Georgia. You can get more info about the country here.

I was born in Tskhinvali, in northern part of east Georgia. I lived there till I was 9 years old.

In 1991 my family moved to another town, Gori, where I lived for 8 years. I went to high school there.

In 1999 I moved to the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, where I went to college (TSU) to study economics. I lived in Tbilisi for 4 years, till I graduated from TSU.

In 2003 I moved to Budapest, Hungary, where I was doing my MA in Economics at CEU. This took 2 years.

In September 2005 I started working on my PhD thesis at Maastricht University, and moved to Maastricht, the Netherlands. Since then I live and work there.

In September 2007 I got married. My beautiful wife Natalia holds PhD in political science from CEU and is a lecturer at Political Science Department of Maastricht University.

In May 2008 I BECAME A FATHER! You can see a picture of my beautiful daughter Elene here.
